        The 1984 German edition of this book written by Ms. Poetzl Malikova

        is the undisputedly definitive work about Franz Xaver Messerschmidt. 

All original artwork, photographs and text are the sole property of Ms. Malikova who has possession of the artwork.  Ms. Malikova has consented to allow Mr. Ranharter to make the translation and negotiate all aspects of publication of the work on her behalf.

The adherence to Nikolai's original sentence structures accounts for some of the awkwardness of the English language in the translation of this page.
